What is Pilates?
In 10 sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 you'll see the difference, and in 30 you'll have a new body · Joseph Pilates
Pilates is a gentle low impact form of exercise. It is a mix of strength and flexibility exercises that aims to improve your postural awareness and really focus on identifying and working your core stability system.
Some of the many benefits include
- Improved posture
- Longer, stronger muscles
- Injury prevention
- Decreased back pain
- Enhanced functional fitness and ease of movement
Exercises are mat based and some may use small pieces of equipment to add resistance or support as needed. You will also be given a home exercise programme detailing exercises for you to practice in order maximise the benefits.
I offer a range of classes, from beginners to post natal. 1-2-1 sessions are also available.
Reformer Pilates: 1-2-1 Reformer pilates sessions are also available.
Although the reformer bed may look a little bit terrifying, it is a really effective way to exercise. The resistance of the springs both increases the challenge for our muscles aswell as supporting us to move in many different ways and directions. As women we know resistance training is vital to maintain muscle mass as we age and this is a really effective way to do this. (did you know you can jump on it too!!)
